MRI Preparation

To ensure a safe and accurate MRI exam, please follow these preparation guidelines:

• Inform your provider if you have any implanted medical devices, metal implants, pacemakers, aneurysm clips, or other metal in your body.
• Remove all jewelry, watches, hairpins, hearing aids, and other metal objects before your exam.
• Let us know if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
• If you experience claustrophobia or anxiety in enclosed spaces, notify your provider before your appointment to discuss available options.
• If your MRI requires contrast, please inform us of any allergies, kidney disease, or prior reactions to MRI contrast agents.
• Wear comfortable clothing without metal zippers, snaps, or underwire, or be prepared to change into a gown if needed.

CT Scan Preparation

Mammogram Preparation

To help ensure the best possible images, please follow these preparation guidelines:

• Bring any prior mammogram images or reports, if requested, to allow for comparison.
• Do not wear deodorant, powder, lotion, or perfume on your underarms or chest on the day of your exam, as these products may affect the images.

Abdominal Ultrasound Preparation

• Do not eat or drink for 6 hours before your exam.
• If you need water to take required medication, drink only small sips.

Pelvic Complete Ultrasound Preparation

• Drink 5 cups (40 oz) of water and finish 1 hour before your appointment.
• Do not urinate before the exam. A full bladder is required.

Obstetrical Ultrasound Preparation

Early Pregnancy (1 to 14 Weeks)

• Drink 5 cups (40 oz) of water and finish 1 hour before your appointment.
• Do not urinate before the exam.

Advanced Pregnancy (Over 14 Weeks)

• Drink the recommended amount of water based on your stage of pregnancy, finishing 1 hour before your appointment. Do
  not urinate beforehand.
• 5 to 6 Months: Drink 4 cups of water
• 7 Months: Drink 3 cups of water

Prostate Complete Ultrasound

• Drink 5 cups (40 oz) of water and finish 1 hour before your appointment.
• Do not urinate before the exam. A full bladder is required.

Transrectal Ultrasound Preparation

• Purchase 2 bottles of Fleet Enema.
  • Use the first bottle the night before your exam.
  • Use the second bottle 1 hour before your exam.
• Patients are not required to fast for this exam; eating is allowed, but a light meal is recommended.

PET Preparation 

We currently schedule up to six PET scans per day according to the following appointment times:

Important Notes:

• Patients must check in 90 minutes before their scheduled scan time.
• Approximately 60 minutes before the scan, a technologist will escort the patient to an exam room for the FDG injection.
• Following the injection, the patient will rest quietly for 45–60 minutes to allow the tracer to circulate.
• The PET scan itself typically takes 30–45 minutes to complete.

• Required recent Calcium labs and Thyroid Ultrasound Report if available

• Patient gets injection with radiopharmaceutical and then scanned
• Schedule both coded back-to-back
